Great sailing tour from Unije to Mali Losinje.....

We had a great relaxed night in the bay of Unije. It was so warm, Erik and RJ decided to sleep on deck !

As you can see this is a great place to get away from the ever surrounding heat. The humidity must be close to 100% I guess.... The only thing we miss at this great boat is an air-conditioning :-)

We continued our tour to Mali Losinje. A larger Island where we also should be able to take in water. This was a nice start of the day by the way ... The team preparing our boat, obviously did not fill up the tanks completely !!!! We could not plot a course directly to this island, so we had to cut large corners. Positive side effect, we had a long day of nice sailing, high at the wind, running an average of 4-5 knots.... mmmhhhhh

Willemien organized here own swimmingpool to escape from the heat !!! Very relaxing, where others were doing the "work".....

But as Willemien is a hard working and loyal crew member, she made up by baking an enormous amount of delicious pancakes and take over the steering for a while !!

Late afternoon we arrived at the marina of the town. Very busy, but still enough place. Paul parked the boat with ease in the small spot made available to us

Left from us (for the viewer) is a Bavaria 36 with 4 German guys. We sailed a small "race" this day and it was a very close finish.... We noticed later that their 36 foot was equipped with almost the same mast and sails as ours, and was clearly trimmed for speed. So actually they should have been able to outrun us.... Take this as a compliment for Paul's never ending trimming and tuning of the sails......

At the top right the restaurant the kids made a reservation for the evening diner... This is really necessary, as the capacity of the available restaurants is clearly not enough to accommodate all visitors !! Specially as you are with a group of seven people....

We had great food at this place (actually every where !!), much more choice and again we enjoyed the great local dry ham, fish and steaks !! After diner we wanted (still too hot to sit on the boat :-) to take a stroll in the old town, which appeared VERY touristic. But we enjoyed the liveliness of all the people hanging out, taking a walk etc...

Very interesting aspect were the fruit and vegetables boats who were selling their merchandise directly at the harbor side all day long !!

Just across the street the local "Plaza" where activities concentrated with painters, artists and hippies....

Exploring the deeper inner of town, Paul found the special sailorman's quarters..... here the local specialty "Zanzibar". Strange name for a bar eh?

At the other side of the marina, all the cruising vessels were trying to get customers for short trips to other islands. Also some "real" cruiseships were lying here. But as you can see, this is more of the "back-packers" class ...............

Tomorrow we will leave for a similar trip as today. heading for an anchor spot at the small island "Premuda"
