The first Golfround, old castle, museum and Italian food......

Today got up early as the vacation starts really with the first round of our Austrian Golf Tour :-)

Started the day with a good breakfast, prepared by Robert and Rebecca. Pffff must be gaining weight here, great hospitality !!

After a short of 54km supported by our new girlfriend, we arrived well in time to the Millstätter See Golfclub. Time enough to practice etc. At that point in time, we must have been thinking this would help.......

This Par 71 course is with its 5300 meter relatively short. But therefore you need the precision of a Swiss Watchmaker to place  your shots !!!
Very challenging day I must say, so great FUN !!

Great views, as the course is somewhat on the mountain slopes, looking over the Millstätter Lake
At the right a good example of the fairways.......

As said, not always easy to find the fairway or greens !! And when on the green, the very tough slopes and ondulation resulted in so many 3 puts .....

Any way, putting on the greens was a pleasure.... Superb surface, makes reading and actual hitting come very close.

After a few last smashing holes, we enjoyed the 19th hole and take a few good drinks and some light lunch...

As Erik calculates the score details, I do the refreshing and voicemail checking......

and Erik starts his "light lunch" called the Birdie Salad. Nice name to remind you on all the nice birdies you played, haha !!!

After a refreshing shower in the hotel, we actually wanted to visit an old MINE, but the exhibition was already closed, so we took the other "attraction" from the leaflet we had in the car. The old castle of Treffling. As you see you the welcome was somewhat harsh....

We thought these were local customs for customers from the biergarten not paying their Bill, but found out this was actually a "torture" museum. Even sponsored by Amnesty International, so after all quite serious ......

As we were thirsty and hungry again, we asked our girlfriend where the closed restaurant was and this happened to be a very friendly family Italian place with great tasting pasta dishes, relaxing atmosphere and great wine. The name was "Da Piero" in case you are around.......

A worthy close of a great first day....

Make SURE not miss our LEADER BOARD !!!!
(and find out who's leading :-)
